How the count works
The tool finds your area (length times width), the area of one tile, and divides to get the bare number, then adds your waste percentage and rounds up to whole tiles. Waste covers edge cuts, breakages and a few spares for future repairs.
Choosing a waste allowance
Ten percent is a common default for straight layouts; go to 15 percent for diagonal patterns, busy rooms with many cuts, or large-format tiles where offcuts are harder to reuse. Buy from one batch so shades match, and keep spares. Working out floor size first? Try the square footage tool.
