Date difference
calculator
How many days between two dates? Pick a start and an end and get the answer in calendar days, in weeks, and in working days — all at once.
Counting the gap between two dates
The difference between two dates is simply the number of calendar days from the earlier one to the later one. From there it's easy to express the same span in whole weeks, or to count only the working days if you're planning around a schedule.
Calendar days versus working days
Calendar days count everything. Working days count only Monday to Friday, skipping weekends — the usual basis for delivery estimates, notice periods and project timelines. This calculator counts working days by stepping through each date in the range and including it only if it falls on a weekday.
National or regional holidays vary by place,
so subtract any that fall in your range.
Inclusive or exclusive?
The count is the plain gap between the two dates — the number of nights between them, if you like. If you need both the first and last day counted as well (an "inclusive" count), add one to the result.
Order doesn't matter
Enter the dates in either order. If the "to" date is earlier than the "from" date, the calculator quietly flips them and tells you, so you always get a positive figure. To measure a span from a birth date instead, the age calculator breaks it into years, months and days.
Date difference FAQ
Subtract the earlier date from the later one and count the calendar days. This calculator does it as you pick the dates, and also shows the span in weeks.
A working day here is any weekday, Monday to Friday. Weekends are excluded. Public holidays are not deducted, since they differ by country and region.
It gives the plain gap between the two dates. If you want both the first and last day counted as well, add one to the result for an inclusive total.
No. If you enter them the wrong way round, the calculator swaps them automatically and shows a positive number of days.
Yes. The calculation uses real calendar dates, so any 29th of February inside the range is counted automatically.
